[add comment] [edit] Marriage of Parmenas Morris and Mary Jane MillikenI was looking around the pages in other people's family trees here on WeRelate yesterday and noted this entry that you have made. I am pretty familiar with the area between Markham and Oshawa and recognized many of the communities mentioned on the page. However, Hagerman was linking to a small place in Parry Sound District (up at the top of Georgian Bay) and it seemed like a strange place to find a marriage of people born in Cartwright in Durham and Markham in York. I wondered if you might be referring to Hagerman's Corners which is now located in Markham but is a fair bit east of the centre of the village. I decided to look up the marriage on Ancestry. Given the name of Parmenas it was quite easy to find (http://search.ancestry.ca/iexec?htx=View&r=5543&dbid=7921&iid=ONMS932_87-1354&fn=Parmenas&ln=Morris&st=r&ssrc=&pid=2410299) and the registrar had very easy handwriting to read. At the top of the page the County is given as York and the Division as Markham Village. Although the place of marriage was recorded as Hagerman, what was meant was Hagerman's Corners. The page number in the register was 422 and the registration number was 013818/95. If you are not able to view the page on Ancestry let me know and I'll be glad to send you a transcription of the entry. Regards --goldenoldie 08:47, 11 October 2012 (EDT) |
