Mayflower Families through 5 Generations, Vol. 15, p. 66: Bette b. 1730 is last child in family of Joseph Leonard of Bridgewater, Massachusetts, Pomfret, Connecticut, and Dutchess County, NY.

"Yeoman of the Revolution: The Untold Story of Joel Campbell 1735-1828" by Jay A. Campbell, "Nancy+Leonard": "The data supporting a marriage of a 'Nancy Leonard' to Joel at this date is non-existent other than family lore. Supposedly a family bible existed containing this assertion, but none has been produced. ... The 'Joseph Leonard' of Massachusetts, listed in so many genealogies as the father of Nancy, is almost certainly not the father-in-law of Joel, as these Leonards never made it to New Jersey. That connection is undoubtedly left from the incorrect genealogy that had Samuel Campbell (Joel's father) hailing from Massachusetts."--Jrich 14:56, 19 November 2018 (UTC)
