Adventures of Harry M. Veenstra [5 March 2015]

I have in my possession, a copied document that was written (typed) in 1965 that is titled "Adventures of Harry M. Veenstra". This was an account or autobiography of Hermanus Veenstra who was born in 1880 in Surhuisterveen, Netherlands and died in 1977 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA. This account gives some childhood adventures and also lists the names and dates of his ancestors, siblings and parents. This document was discovered in the possessions of Henry Veenstra (1900-1997) who was my Grandfather. The copy is somewhat difficult to read, so I thought about transcribing it, or I could simply attach a jpeg of it to the appropriate place. I would like for it to be able to travel with an exported GEDCOM if possible.

I am not sure what the proper way to display/transcribe this information, or if I am allowed to post this. I do feel that the information is important in that it has already clarified the questionable use of the person Sierd Melles Veenstra in which it was not known if he went by his birth name (Sied) or what appears to be his known name of Sierd. I have referenced this document in Sierd's profile under "Personal Information" and as a "MySource" that links to what is at this time only a MySource page.

Would you please give me direction for the correct way to tie this important and interesting piece of historic information to our ancestor's history?--Chris 00:30, 5 March 2015 (UTC)

Something written in 1965 is still under copyright, and WR is quite careful about that. If you can demonstrate that the copyright has passed to you as the heir, then you can make a notation that you as heir have released the document under the the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License 3.0 and the GFDL, which is what WR is looking for. I'll inquire from the experts what would be the best way to post the transcript to ensure that it gets picked up by the WR GEDCOM exporter. --pkeegstra 01:24, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
