Person talk:Mary Gilman (2)

All messed up [7 September 2009]

This page seems to be a mixture of two different Mary Gilmans, aunt and niece.

Relying primarily on a TAG article, "English Origin of Edward Gilman" by Clarence Almon Torrey p. 11:137, which corrects and adds to Source:Gilman, Arthur. Genealogy of the Gilman Family in England and America, we find:

Edward Gilman m. 1550 Rose Rysse
...Their son Edward Gilman m. -----
......Their son Edward Gilman m. 1614 Mary Clark.
.........Their daughter Mary Gilman m. John Foulsham
......Their daughter Mary Gilman m. (1) 1629 Nicholas Jacob, m. (2) 1659 John Beal.

In cleaning this up, I am going to assume that "Edward Gilman and Unknown Smith" correspond to Edward Gilman m. -----. --Jrich 18:24, 7 September 2009 (EDT)

  • This page is now Mary, d/o Edward Gilman and Mary Clark who m. John Foulsham.
  • Person:Mary Gilman (12) is Mary, d/o Edward Gilman and ---, who m. Nicholas Jacob and John Beal.
  • I also believe the Edward Gilman who married a Smith might be the son of Edward Gilman and Mary Clark, but this is academic as my cleanup included merging some newly created duplicates and the family of Edward Gilman m. ------ ended up being Family:Edward Gilman and Mary Hawes (2). The Edward Gilman on that page had the correct parents so I used it. I have no information that provides the name of this wife either way, but left it for someone who has done a more thorough survey of the literature on this family to fix or change to unknown.
