Identity and Birth Date [21 December 2014]

The Callaway Family Association, in their tree of descendants of Peter Callaway of MD, gives her birth date as 17 Apr 1810 in Wilkes County, Georgia, and identifies her mother as Mary Elizabeth Polly Lee, but not her father. Other trees indicate that her father was Joseph Morgan Callaway (1782-1845), who may or may not be the Joseph Callaway who married Elizabeth Lee 13 Apr 1813 in Wilkes County (FamilySearch and other transcriptions). Since at least one tree (RootsWeb tree of Susan Higgins Hutchinson) cites The Callaway Family Association, it is possible that The Callaway Family Association used to indicate that her father was Joseph Morgan Callaway. It is also possible that other trees have linked Mary Ann Callaway to Joseph Morgan Callaway based purely on supposition.

The lack of consistency of data (including the multiple first names of her supposed mother) suggests that her parentage is currently unknown. If so, an exact birth date (17 Apr 1810) is likely unsupported by documentation.--DataAnalyst 20:57, 21 December 2014 (UTC)
