Maeijken Hendricx van den Oever [3 October 2011]

Maeijken Hendricx van den Oever, married in Waardenburg, Gelderland 7 Apr 1645 Willem Gijsbertss Crom both from Waardenburg. There is no connection with Meppel, Drenthe. The date of her 2nd marriage 1646 in Meppel cannot be correct, I have the impression that here 2 person have been merged which are not the same one.--Klaas (Ekjansen) 16:27, 2 October 2011 (EDT)

I pieced this together from GoogleBooks snippets of an article in The New York Genealogical and Biographical Record, v131, 2000.
"Genealogists before and since have wondered what the exact relationship was between Floris Willemse Crom and the Willem Crom whose widow Maycke Hendricks came to Kingston with her second husband Jan Joosten van Meteren and her Crom children.
As reported in the October 1997 RECORD, it is now known that the marriage of Willem Gijsbertszen Crom and Maeyken Hendricx van den Oever took place in Waardenburg, Gelderland province, The Netherlands, on 7 April 1645. Willem and Maeyken had four children, who sailed to New Netherland with their mother and stepfather on the ship d'Vos (The Fox) in 1662: Hendrick, then age 15; Lysbet, 12; Gysbert, 9; and Geertje, 6. Also on board was their half-brother Joose Janszen van Meteren, age 2 1/2"...
"Willem(1) Gijsbertsz. Crom (Gijsbert, Willem, Gijsbert) born say 1622/23, married 7 April 1645 in the Dutch Reformed Church of Waardenburg, Gelderland, Maycken Hendricks van den Oever, born at Meppel, Drenthe. Willem lived in Opijnen, Gelderland, and died probably after 1656 (when he is last on record and his last child was born) and before 1659, the probable year of his wife's second marriage to Jan Joosten (van Meteren). As indicated earlier, his children immigrated to New Netherland in 1662 with their mother and stepfather"...
"After the death of Willem, Maycken, a widow with five young children, soon remarried to Jan Joosten, later referred to as Jan Joosten van Meteren. In 1662 the family emigrated on the ship The Fox, as previously noted." --Jennifer (JBS66) 13:04, 3 October 2011 (EDT)

Parents [3 October 2011]

I removed Family:Hendrick Of Laackervelt and Anne Jans (1) as parents due to lack of convincing evidence. This webpage states "Several webgens name her parents as Hendricks of Laeckervelt and Anne Jan Jans; but this is the result of confusion between our Maycken Hendricks and a Maycke Hendrieux, whose parents were Hendrick Adriense van de/der/den Burchgraef(f) and Annetje Janse of Laeckervelt. " The referred to Maycke Hendrieux can be found here. --Jennifer (JBS66) 12:43, 3 October 2011 (EDT)
