Person talk:Klaassien Wieringa (1)

From Klaasina Unknown (1): [16 January 2014]

Looking at the 1880 census I think that Klazina immigrated between 1869 and 1875.

That sounds good, but I think we need someone who emigrated with a husband and 3 kids: that looks like the best explanation for Klaas, Hattie, and Cora all born in Holland. The husband was probably Dykwell. (My first guess for her surname was Wieringa, too.) --Pkeegstra 20:34, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
In WieWasWie I see only a handful of combinations of kind Klaas and moeder kla*ina, and none of the names look encouraging. I'm afraid we may need to look at Overijssel, like that 1870 census notation for Hellen Oosterhouse suggests. Have you tried looking for any of the Oosterhouses? --Pkeegstra 20:51, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
Henry Oosterhouse died in 1874. His parents were Nicholas and Jennie. How about Heine Oosterhuis from Zandeweer? His father was born about 1803, and I found an Ancestry image search with images of immigrant Nicholas Osterhouse 1803-1895. I think Jurjen may be George from the 1900 census. --Pkeegstra 21:22, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
I posted this on G+ a little while ago - this is Klaasina' first marriage https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FCDD-7JK --Jennifer (JBS66) 20:38, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
Excellent! I see it's also in the 1868-1925 dataset, with image. (Pastor is Rev. W. H. Freiling, witnesses are Douwe and Klaas Bouwman. n.b. next line is a marriage by Rev. Van Raalte.) But what then do we do with the 3 children born in Holland? I see that Dykwell is much older. I suppose they could be his, right? --Pkeegstra 21:27, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
In ZeeuwenGezocht I see an 1845 marriage between Geraard Dijkwel born about 1808 in Yerseke and Geertruijt van de Schraaf born about 1790 in Neuzen. But I don't see any children born 1860-1870 (consistent with Geertruijt being age 55 at marriage). --Pkeegstra 22:22, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
There is a connection between the Oosterhouses and the Vanderwalls. Henry Vanderwall is first cousin to Henry and George Oosterhouse, with common ancestors Heine van Zielen and Alstje Mulder. --Pkeegstra 01:01, 16 January 2014 (UTC)

If you agree, you can merge her --henk 11:26, 16 January 2014 (UTC)

Very interesting! It gives us the 3 children born in Netherlands we have been trying to explain. If one of the 3 was really his, it even explains why Heine adopted them. --Pkeegstra 11:49, 16 January 2014 (UTC)

She married Gerard first in 1870!

Yeah, I forgot about that. And he's from Zeeland, so they probably met in Michigan. --Pkeegstra 12:02, 16 January 2014 (UTC)

Yes. she came over desperately seeking for a job, his spouse just died and he needed a housekeeper just a win-win situation
