His middle name was not Alexander. That was his brother's name. His middle name is not known. Nor are his siblings middle names known. Joseph was the father of eleven children and none of them were named John D. b. 1857. They lived in Newton Co., MO. 1850 census, to Oregon 1852, and 1860 and 1870 appear in Linn Co., OR. census records, as well as a census of Brownsville Village. Joseph died 1872.
