Joseph Parmely's listed in the Vital Records Guilford Connecticut
- Joseph 1 of Guilford marries Abigail of New Haven in 1716.
- Joseph2 is born to Joseph and Abigail in 1721.
- Joseph Jr. marries Obedience Spencer in 1742 (likely this is the Joseph born in 1721--he would be a Jr.)?
- Joseph (not designated as Joseph Jr. so could be Joseph1 or Joseph2) marries Abigail Cruttenden in 1753. Is this the same Joseph who married Obedience? See item 9.
- Another Joseph3 is born to Joseph and Abigail in 1755. Which Joseph and Abigail?
- Joseph Jr. marries Hulda in 1776. (Is this Joseph Jr2 born in 1721 and married to Obedience and/or Abigail or the Joseph3 born 1755? More than likely it is the Joseph3 born 1755)
- Joseph4 (not in this record) according to a grave marker was born 1782 in New Haven, CT (not in Guilford) is listed as son of Jos. and Hulda in many Ancestry trees. Hmm...Guilford is in New Haven county but this Joseph is not listed as a birth in Guilford. I could locate no census or other records tying this Joseph to the Pamely's in Guilford. New.Familysearch has this Joseph having a daughter named Hulda. However, there is no supporting evidence for the child list.
- Joseph Jr. dies at sea in 1785. Though most Ancestry trees think this is the Joseph3 was the one born in 1755 and married to Hulda, without more evidence it is impossible to know which Joseph it was.
- The last line of the above scan (Joseph marries Mary Deming in 1788) makes me think it was the Joseph2 born in 1721 who died at sea instead of his son (Joseph3born in 1755. In 1785, Joseph2 born 1721 would be 64 years old. Could still be healthy enough to be at sea--might have died there but less likely to marry a third or fourth time. It is more likely that Hulda died and Joseph3 born 1755 remarried to Mary in 1788.
