The birth date on this page, 1655, is too late for a person who married in 1670. There is a different Joseph Gardner born in Salem to John and Priscilla in 1655. Odd that Thomas Gardner Planter is cited as a source, because on p. 48, that suggests that Joseph is the oldest son of Richard, probably by an earlier unknown wife, based largely on this same argument. The birth location of Nantucket is clearly wrong as Richard's first appearance in Nantucket is in 1667 (see History of Nantucket). In fact, his son Joseph was granted half a share in 1667[/8] also, suggesting he was born by 1647... --Jrich 18:26, 21 May 2011 (EDT)
