Person talk:Joseph Foster (25)

Frederick Clifton Pierce [31 May 2011]

I think you'll find, if you have occasion to use the scholarly journals (NEHGR, TAG, etc.) on a regular basis, that Pierce's work is not held in high regard. Somewhat painful for me as Renald Foster of Ipswich is a direct ancestor and I have a strong interest in, although no direct family connection to, the Fiskes.--Jaques1724 23:42, 31 May 2011 (EDT)

Yes have discovered many errors, but still surname genealogies are very useful for getting oriented, and one shouldn't rely on one source no matter who it is. So I generally try to drill down to the primary records to confirm most of the sources I use, which minimizes the damage (except to my time). Some of his work on the Pierces is useful as they get very confusing. --Jrich 01:11, 1 June 2011 (EDT)
