Widow's request [22 June 2022]

The widow's request here contains no date. The back is not filmed to see if there is an endorsement, but most of the time, the filmers are pretty good about filming any page with any writing. It does not appear that the widow's request made it in the record books.

So it is at present not clear where the Bosworth Genealogy gets this date. Since the text says p. 269 that "Jonathan died previous to Feb. 17, 1759", despite later giving this 1 Feb date which is not in evidence, it sounds a little like assumption, implying he probably died about 1 Feb?

It certainly does not seem to fit what would be a typical sequence of events. Usually the judge orders the inventory as soon as they learn of a death, or later on, as soon as an administrator is appointed. So the inventory was ordered 17 Feb, neither the warrant naming the administrator, nor the return indicating who showed them the belongings. And Amos Bosworth was not appointed administrator until 3 Apr.

Typically, one would expected his mother to send her note via Amos, and he be appointed the same day he brought it. --Jrich 18:23, 22 June 2022 (UTC)
