Speculation about Parents [18 February 2014]

According to Jonelle Richardson (RootsWeb), 'H. S. Whetsell in "The Preston County Journal" says John was the son of Johan Jacob [Wetzel] or Jacob Werner [Wetzel]. Others think he was the son of Hans Martin [Wetzel].' All these men immigrated to Pennsylvania before John did (Hans Martin in 1731, Johan Jacob in 1737, and Jacob Werner in 1746). The story about John's immigration mentions his step-father abandoning him and his brother. If this story is true, it is highly unlikely that he was the son of Johan Jacob (who lived to 1785) or Hans Martin (who lived to 1782).--DataAnalyst 03:27, 19 February 2014 (UTC)
