Person talk:John Thompson (392)

Wrong family, wrong person [13 December 2013]

In 1658, Simon Thompson, "a few weeks before his death, he made his will, and gave one third of his property to his wife, Mary; a double portion to his son James, the only son then living". Source:Thompson, Leander. Memorial of James Thompson, of Charlestown, Mass., 1630-1642, and Woburn, Mass., 1642-1682, p. 19.

Birth date of 4 Apr 1645 is for John, s/o Simon, not Jonathan (see [1]). But this John died 8 days later (see [2]).

A Jonathan Thompson did die 20 Oct 1691, but it was the Jonathan who married Susanna Blodgett (see [3] and [4], Simon's brother, not his son).

According to Cutter, this is supposed to be John Thompson, eldest child of John and Sarah Thompson, probably b. Weymouth about 1643, d. Mendon 18 Sep 1739, m. abt. 1665 Thankful Woodland. --Jrich 00:03, 14 December 2013 (UTC)
