Person talk:John Greene (7)

Watchers

I descend from one or possibly 2 lines of GREEN/GREENEs with one of my grandfather's marrying a GREEN lady as his first wife, who was of anoth line from MA. -- I descend from the 2nd wife of this John Green of Preston. Some of my GREEN/GREENEs can be traced to the GREENE descendents of John of Quidnesset or Kingstown, RI. We believe that we descend from a Samuel Greene (Josiah4, John3, Benjamin3, John1) -- Another one of this Josiah's sons was Joseph, who md. Margaret Greenman; and these people migratated out of RI into CT and then to Renesselaer Co., NY. And I do stress the movement of GREENE families through New London Co., CT then on to Renesselaer Co., NY. (Some of mine came from Westerly, listed in Voluntown and settled around Preston.)

So, you might try to look at the book: "Descendents of Joseph Greene, of Westerly, RI , also Other Branches of The Greenes of Quidnessset, or Kingston, RI, and Other Greenes in Americ Principal Frank L. Greene (No. 365). Published by Joel Munsells's Sons, Publishers, 1894, Albany, NY.

Be sure to go through the Archived CTNEWLON@@rootsweb.com , as well as t GREEN or GREENE Boards of Ancestry/Rootsweb. It takes a lot of work to sort out these GREEN/GREENEs, who came through New London County, CT. One of Joseph's descendants said that I was probably related to her Joseph Greene, and so now I believe that I am related. Besure to check the Land Deed Records of New London County and perhap some in Windham Co., CT. And do get as many Census Records as are possible. While I studied all kinds of GREEN/GREENEs as possible during 1998 thru 2003, I still have to find my William Green's early lineage, probably from some other descendents of John Green of Quidnesset. from User:Marr794
