Person talk:Joanna Way (1)

not daughter of Aaron Way [18 May 2012]

I removed all the facts related to the daughter of Aaron Way, as she married [first child b. 1685] Job Chamberlain (naming a son Aaron, and moving to South Carolina with the parents of his wife, see Source:NEHGR, p. 142:355). I did not find a source that even gave Samuel Fox's wife Joanna's maiden name, but then I stopped searching after I realized she was not connected to Aaron Way.

The marriage date in Apr 1675 shown on this page appears incorrect, since Samuel Fox was still married to his first wife in 1681 when they had a son Samuel (first of two sons named Samuel, called Samuel the elder in his father's will, the other by third wife Bathsheba (Rogers) Smith), according to the Barbour records. A book by Gideon Hollister called "The History of Connecticut", Vol. 2, p. 531 cites some court records in New London date 14 Apr 1685 naming a Joanna Way, indicating there may have been a different person by this name in New London, and if she became Samuel Fox's wife, it didn't happen until after that date. But evidence is needed to prove the if part, first. --Jrich 12:10, 18 May 2012 (EDT)
