Footnote [5 July 2009]

The problem is the numbered footnote is just "hanging" attached to nothing. Usually there's some text that the footnote serves to amplify. Also, the actual footnotes usually appear at the bottom of the page. They can go anywhere you want them to, but there's so little text this footnote is attached to, that it doesn't make "intuitive sense" as you put it. Footnotes can be used for many things. In this case you are using it to reference the source of information, but the citation is incomplete. The way I'd do this in this instance is to put in something like "From: Source:XYZ, and then create a source card for the information. There you need more than just the title. Author, date, publisher, etc. If its a government record, then there's some series name or the like that would identify where this could be obtained. I think for my purpose here, the format I used for Person:Francis Crawford (6) works better than a footnote. The source already has a Source page, so I might as well link to that. I might add the publisher info, though. --Ajcrow 10:56, 5 July 2009 (EDT)
