Not the same Jeremiah Able [24 October 2012]

Joe DeSpain sent this email Dallan: I just looked at your page on Jeremiah Able. I don't think Rev. Jeremiah Able is the same Jeremiah Able listed on the 1774 Glade Hollow Fort roster. Rev. Jeremiah Able was born 30 June 1770 in Rockingham Co., VA. He was associated with the Methodists originally, and I have found him listed in Southwest VA records joining with Frances Asbury. He lived in Greenbrier Co., WV near Rehoboth Church before moving to KY. He lived in Green Co., KY then Adair Co., KY before moving to Illinois where he died 17 Sept. 1845. His wife was Hannah Aiken (13 May 1771 - 14 Sept. 1854). Some of this info. may be found in Horace & Lewis P. Abell's /The Abell Family in America/, 1940 and John Powell's /History of the Early Settlers of Sangamon County, Illinois/, 1876.

Thanks! I'll check that out further. As was noted, it wasn't clear that the Jeremiah Able of SW VA was the same person as the Rev. Jeremiah Able. With a DOB of 1770 it would seem that they could not be the same person. However, we'll need to look at the original source documentation for that point. Q 16:50, 24 October 2012 (EDT)
