Question on death date [7 October 2010]

Nico,

I'm trying to decipher & translate part of a document that has clues as to Jan's death date. It is from his daughter Wijtske's marriage certificate that can be found here (starts at the bottom of page 17)

"Jan Tjebbes Feenstra overleden volgensacte van kennelijkheid opgemaakt voor den vrederegter van het kanton Heerenveen den vijf tienden dezer geregistreerd den zestienden en gelegaliseerd den zesentienden dito"

Jan Tjebbes Feenstra deceased by act of nature apparently made before the magistrate of the canton Heerenveen the fifteenth and the sixteenth of these registered legalized the sixteenth ditto

Doesn't fully make sense as yet... I don't see where it lists a month of death, perhaps he died 15 May 1818 in Heerenveen? --Jennifer (JBS66) 14:19, 7 October 2010 (EDT)
