[add comment] [edit] baptism date [9 February 2014]There are only 14 records from Hingham 1643 and before, and only 5 are births, probably all recorded after the fact when younger siblings were reported to the town clerk. The only source of dates for that time period is Peter Hobart's journal of baptisms which says February 12 for the baptism. It would be possible to misread it since January had none and January looks like the header for that section until you notice the very next line says "febuary". And of course, some people try to adjust old style - new style which in the 1600's is a ten day shift, but which WeRelate conventions says not to. Don't know why the date was changed, but suspect it was one of these reasons. Believe the baptism on 12 Feb 1642/43 is the only date that is actually known so I removed 2 Jan 1642/43 suspecting it is an error caused by one of the above situations. --Jrich 00:44, 10 February 2014 (UTC) |
