[add comment] [edit] Ancestry and disambiguation [7 March 2025]This Harding Knight is distinct from, and not the son of, the Harding Knight who died in 1847. This Harding Knight is referred to as Harding Knight, Jr., in his 1840 marriage record not because his father was named Harding, but simply because he was the younger of 2 men with the same name in the same town. Online trees have identified the parents of this Harding Knight as William Knight and Judith Mathewson and the parents of the other Harding Knight as Reuben Knight and Rachel Goffe, which I was unable to verify, but, based on dates, seems more likely than the other way around. The sources and dates make it certain that Tryphosia Lambert and Ann Helme were the wives of this Harding Knight, and that Mary Ann Brown was the wife of the Harding Knight who died in 1847. The other two wives, Julia Knight and Eleanor Warner are less certain. However, if the children attributed to Harding Knight and Mary Ann Brown are accurate, then the Harding Knight who died in 1847 could not have been the one married to Eleanor Warner. Unfortunately, I was unable to verify the parents of any of the children attributed to Harding Knight and Mary Ann Brown other than the infant daughters born in the 1840's. Please review all sources and notes before making changes to these 2 men and their families.--DataAnalyst 18:02, 7 March 2025 (UTC) |
