Not wife of William Mott? [31 August 2013]

Source:Seaman, Mary Thomas. Seaman Family in America as Descended from Captain John Seaman of Hempstead, Long Island (published 1928), p. 37, identifies Hannah Seaman, daughter of John Seaman, as the wife of William Mott. However, no marriage date is given.

Source:Hinshaw, William Wade. Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy (published 1940), 3:430, identifies Hannah Ferris, daughter of John and Mary (Jackson) Ferris, as the wife of William Mott, and provides the marriage date (2 Mo (Apr) 12, 1705).

Presumably there was some reason for believing that the wife of William Mott was a Seaman, prior to the discovery of his marriage record. There is no indication in either source that Hannah Seaman and Hannah Ferris were the same person (one a maiden name and one a married name) - in fact, each book identifies Hannah by her parents, ruling this out.

Assuming that the later published work (including the marriage date) is correct, Hannah Seaman did not marry William Mott - at least not William Mott, the son of Adam and Elizabeth Mott.--DataAnalyst 22:02, 30 August 2013 (EDT)
