Person talk:Hannah Martin (36)

Watchers

Hello [10 December 2012]

I have been altering pages with red-inked placenames and found your family tree. I have changed your references to "United Kingdom" to "England" so that they fall in with the preferred description here on WeRelate.

As another British user I recognise the difficulties of obtaining family history data economically on this side of the pond and respect the limitations this puts on finding complete source details. Given that problem, you have done a great job in proving what you can. Would you mind if I made a few suggestions:

You seem to have entered the details for the marriages on the Person pages. The Family page (with the names of the husband and wife at the top) has boxes to provide this information once you get to "edit".

You have used the Canadian Passenger Lists data from Ancestry for the journeys from Britain to Canada. I have titled them Emigration and Immigration (from the selection list) and tried to adjust the placename. I assume that Glasgow, Scotland was the point of boarding and changed the placename accordingly, but if it was Liverpool, then that can go in the space instead. You don't give a return journey which the family obviously made--why not make an estimate between the births of the two sons? You don't have to prove every last fact.

I must admit I don't know how to put "East Staffordshire" (which I guess is the Registry Office holding the information on Phoebe Lydia Haywood's death) into the WeRelate place name structure.

Hope you don't mind this intrusion. Regards --goldenoldie 04:58, 10 December 2012 (EST) (Pat Jeffs)
