[add comment] [edit] Wrong William Potter [13 December 2010]Checking into the history of William Potter of New Haven, it appears that there were 2 William Potters in CT. Hannah nee Hannah Brown was the stepdaughter of William Potter of Stamford who died in 1684. She was b in Watertown 9 Sep 1634 to John Brown and Dorothy. John died in 1636 and Dorothy remarried William Potter who moved from Watertown to Stamford, CT in 1645. At http://web.mac.com/rogergilbert/GRG%20Ahnentafel/at01/at01_033.htm#P873 is an excerpt from The great Migration regarding John Brown and his widow's probable 2nd husband William Potter. V pg 506-7 is discussed a William Potter who was granted four acres at the Town Plot in Watertown and who sold his land and moved to Stamford, Ct. in 1645. Also there is a discussion with many references in the Potter Family Forum at http://genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-bin/pageload.cgi?John,Hannah::potter::1275.html --Scot 13:14, 13 December 2010 (EST) |
