[add comment] [edit] Kieffer and Keffer [3 February 2013]Is there a relationship between the Kieffer and the Keffer families? In the 1891 census Charles Keefer, a grandson of George Kieffer, lives in the same part of Toronto as Dr Thomas Keffer, part of the Keffer family in Vaughan. This census does not give specific addresses like the 1901 and 1911 do. I shall have to find them in city directories. --goldenoldie 02:47, 3 February 2013 (EST) Well, took a bit of finding, using online directories and a fairly modern paperback Atlas of Toronto. Charles Keefer, civil engineer, lived at 250 Rusholme Road and Thomas Keffer, physician, lived at 257 Brock Street, both in the area called Parkdale. The two streets are about six blocks apart. (Toronto doesn't change numbering in each block and Brock Street starts further south than Rusholme Road.) Edwin Keefer, dentist, is at 321 College Street, perhaps a bit east of Rusholme Road. Jacob Keefer, carpenter, is at 12 Peel Street, very close to Dr Keffer. Interesting. --goldenoldie 04:25, 3 February 2013 (EST) |
