Person talk:George Douglas (38)

George Davis, Jr. and Mary Tucker [3 October 2017]

As a descendant of George Davis and Mary Tucker, I am trying to get to "the truth", if possible, about George's parentage. I see seemingly convincing evidence that he was born in Virginia. Likewise, I see convincing "evidence" that he came from Buck County, Pa and is the son of George Davis and Mary Piersol and a descendent of Andrew Douglass and Jane Ross, parents of Susannah Douglas Tucker, wife of Drury Tucker. Look up Susanne Douglas Tucker's Find a Grave and the historic property of George Tucker and Mary Piersal in Bucks County, PA

Look at Find a Grave of Susannah Douglas Tucker, wife of Drury

Her father, Andrew, was seemingly the father of George Tucker who married Mary Tucker if the claims on a Wiki Treeare correct.

Certainly, the Tuckers in Virginia (Drury and and Mary ) seemingly had connections with the PA Douglas family.

Can anyone shed light on this information? I have found in genealogy that many people seem to copy off other people's family lines without providing substantiating documents such as those that would be required for DAR membership or to be a member of the Jamestown Society in Virginia (or other like entities). For example, Mary Piersal, wife of George Tucker, Sr. in Buck's county, is often written don as Pinesol.

We all need to deeds, if not birth records, wills, archived Bibles, chancery court cases, etc. to be authentic.

Now, was Mary Tucker Douglas's husband George from Scotland by way of PA or from VA (likely from Scotland).

I frankly don't know what the truth is. She does indeed, though seem to be the daughter of Drury Tucker whose family hails from Bermuda in that he named her in a will. These Tuckers go back to Captain George Tucker and Elizabeth St.George and have a common ancestor of those present in the Jamestown Colony. Drury Tucker's 2nd wife was a Penn.--JuliaThmsn 14:06, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
