Parents of Esther (Beardsley) DeForest [30 October 2022]

Orcutt and Beardsley both assign Esther Beardsley, wife of Benjamin DeForest, to Thomas and Sarah (Denman) Beardsley. However, the abstract of Thomas' will provided by Orcutt does not mention Esther DeForest (who was deceased at that time), her husband Benjamin, or any of her surviving children. Her gravestone in the Old Cemetery of Huntington (Shelton) gives her death as "Deforest, Esther, wife of Benjamin, died Mar. 22, 1763 age 40", reasonably consistent with the date of birth of the "Ester" born to Abraham and Esther (Janes) Beardsley, 28 March 1725, at Stratford. Abraham and Esther are buried in the same cemetery in Huntington as Esther DeForest; burials of Thomas and Sarah are not known. It seems likely that Esther (Beardsley) DeForest was daughter of Abraham, not of Thomas.--jaques1724 06:07, 30 October 2022 (UTC)

UPDATE: Emily Johnston DeForest, in A Walloon Family in America (2:296), states that Benjamin DeForest "On April 18, 1744, … married Esther, daughter of Abraham Beardsley of Stratford."--jaques1724 20:41, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
