Person talk:Elizabeth Wright (4)

Need sources [20 July 2012]

I removed comment "Ethel Baker has first wife as Hannah Wright, Daughter of Deac. Samuel Wright and Margaret." The father Thomas Stebbins married as his first wife a different Hannah Wright, and such an assertion is obviously confusion with that marriage since Northampton VRs clearly show the 1684 marriage of Thomas Stebbins and Elizabeth Wright. Editorial comment: the days when it matters what somebody "has" are past in genealogy, a reaction to the bad results such "trust" produces. It matters not that somebody "has" something, but what the primary sources are that justify it. Without sources, it is too easy for somebody to get confused, or propagate somebody else's confusion. End of editorial comment.

I removed the death date of 1691. That, as recorded in the Northampton VRs, is the death date of Elizabeth (Strong) Wright, the wife of Elizabeth's brother Ebenezer. The Elizabeth of this page wasn't named Elizabeth Wright in 1691 so the death record clearly did not apply to her, and she m. (2) 1715 John Hannum, so clearly did not die in 1691. See Source:Burt, Henry Martyn. Early Days in New England - Life and Times of Henry Burt of Springfield and Some of His Descendants, p. 242, which says "The date of Elizabeth Wright Stebbins's death is not known to the writer", and the VRs of Northampton. --Jrich 09:58, 20 July 2012 (EDT)
