[add comment] [edit] Llanrhymni, Monmouthshire, Wales [5 January 2018]This is the Welsh translation of [[Place:Llanrumney, Monmouthshire, Wales|Llanrumney]] which is now located within [[Place:Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales|Cardiff]]. Rumney and Llanrumney were originally in Monmouthshire but were transferred to Glamorgan in 1938 to become suburbs of Cardiff. Thirty miles or so to the north is another town named Rhymney (Rhymni in Welsh) which is in the valley west of Tredegar. WR has a lot of references to Llanrhymni and a lot to Tredegar, so I would have expected them to be fairly close together. But I can't find Llanrhymni in gazetteers or maps, just Rhymney. WR seems to have acquired a big Morgan family of circa 1600 (without sources, of course). Wikipedia mentions Tredegar as the birthplace of the buccaneer Henry Morgan, so I would presume that the rest of the family are going to be found in the local area rather than down on the coast near Cardiff. It is possible that Rhymney and the Llanrhymni referenced here (the prefix "Llan" means parish") are one and the same place, but we have no proof. Any thoughts on how we should proceed? --Goldenoldie 12:09, 3 January 2018 (UTC)
