Person talk:Elizabeth Clere (4)

Source:Genealogical and Family History of the State of New Hampshire, p. 1703, has a story (i.e., family tradition, published over 200 years after William died) that one time William Osgood, as an "old man, who was in a part of the room by himself, in response to their hilarity, broke out in a sort of musical speech: 'My wife was Betty Cleer and I loved her before I see her.'" Is this the only evidence of her maiden name? [The original source for this story may have been Source:Osgood, Ira. A Genealogy of the Descendants of John, Christopher and William Osgood in 1894.]
