Person talk:Edward Cobb (1)

Belongs to William, not Henry? [15 February 2009]

I have seen sources connecting Edward to Henry, too, but hesitated to accept it because Edward is not listed in the family of Henry on Great Migration Begins database at newenglandancestor.org. As Henry migrated to Scituate in 1635 and Barnstable in 1640, and all the events in Edward's life are listed in Plymouth, it would appear that he may not belong to Henry Cobb. Further, a birth in 1635 (as this page shows) conflicting with the birth of Henry's son James in Jan 1635, and an ill-fitting christening in England in 1637 (as this page also shows) both suggest this is not a good fit. Savage suggests the Edward who m. Mary Hoskins was the brother of Augustine and John Cobb of Taunton, which appears to be a separate Cobb family from Henry. Other sites list Edward as a son of William and Dorothy Cobb and born in England after Henry had already come to New England, though the source is only listed as an email. Still that is a better source than the lack of any source provided on this page. --Jrich 13:45, 15 February 2009 (EST)
