You should be lucky as the UK birth registrations began in July 1837 so a birth in December 1837 or 1841 would show him, additionally the census of 6 June 1841 would list his earlier birth.

There are no records with this name anywhere in England from July 1837 to March 1842. There was a Charles Edward born in Battle in 1837 but he died in England after 1911. Could he have been born with another name which he did not use later in life?--Rhian 13:12, 16 May 2016 (UTC)
