Parents [17 October 2012]
User:Beatrijs posted on my talk page regarding Durkje's parents, which I'll continue here. She said "since she is born in abt 1797, I think she should be mentioned under the second marriage of Hein Tjitses Stienstra". Here are my thoughts thus far:
- Huwelijksakte 1817 states Vader bruid Hein Tjisses Steenstra & Moeder bruid Durkje Johannes
- Durkje's age at marriage was 22, so she would have been born Abt 1795, rather than 1797. Since the marriage event is closer to her birth than her death (which says she was 81 [born abt 1797]), I'd tend to trust the marriage age more.
- In the Memories van successie for "Hotze Heins Steenstra" (listed as Hotze in the Memories and Atse on his death certificate) 22 januari 1823. There it says "zoon van Hein Tjitzes Steenstra, meesterknecht op't tigchelwerk van heer Muller op Snakkeburen o/Lekkum & Baukje Johannes; broer van Maaike (vrouw van Evert Romkes de Haan, onderwijzer Wirdum) en minderjarige Johannes (17 jaar) en Martje Heins Steenstra (15 jaar); halfbroer van Dirkje Heins Stienstra (vrouw van Hendrik Klazes Alma, arbeider) (uit eerder huwelijk vader)." Thus, Durkje would have been a half-sibling of Hein, and not the child of Family:Hein Steenstra and Baukje Postma (1).
- A possibility is that Person:Durkje Johannes (1) died in childbirth, and Person:Durkje Stienstra (1) was named after her.--Jennifer (JBS66) 18:56, 16 October 2012 (EDT)
- I agree that the naming of Durkje Johannes as her mother in her marriage record is more reliable than the age computed from her death record. Another line of reasoning is that since Baukje only died 3 years before Hein, there is no obvious reason to have forgotten her name by the time Durkje Heins died. That they didn't remember the mother's name would seem to be evidence that they did remember that the mother was not Baukje. --Pkeegstra 20:08, 16 October 2012 (EDT)
