Hi Kevin,

I saw that you renamed this page again to Derktje Ferwerda. Where are you seeing that name spelling for her? At the time of both her birth and marriage, Dettje was used. For the births of most of her children, Detje was on the records. Generally, we use the spelling of the birth name for a primary name. Also, we don't rename pages for minor differences that are found in records (for example, Dettje versus Detje). --Jennifer (JBS66) 06:26, 25 June 2012 (EDT)

Kevin, Dettje's grandmother was named Detje which is another clue. What we need to do is look at what the primary documents tell us during her lifetime. So,

• This birth record shows she was born as Dettje.
• This marriage record shows she married as Dettje.

We would trust a document that happened closer to birth more than a document that happened 59 years later. You could list Derktje Ferwerda in a note on the page and explain this was the spelling used on her son's marriage record in 1916. Haar naam is Dettje ofwel ook soms Detje, alleen een keer heet zij, als moeder van de bruidegom in Rotterdam Derktje Ferwerda. Haar naam is vanwege haar geboorte en huwelijksakte dus Dettje, en Derktje kan als alt name (met bronverwijzing) genoteerd worden.
