[add comment] [edit] proof needed [19 June 2015]Daniel Johnson is a common name. There are two of similar age, born in Haverhill. Daniel, s/o Timothy, b. 1770, and Daniel, s/o Elias, b. 1773 or 1774 (depending on whether you believe church or town records, respectively). The death date in 1841 works out to a birth in 1773 which is decidedly more appropriate for the s/o Elias. The death date indicates the man who dies is the husband of Sarah Alden. Daniel and Sarah Alden did not name any children Timothy or Elias or Mary, but did name a daughter Elizabeth (Elias' wife's name). The Greeley Genealogy lists the birth of Daniel as a son of Mary Greeley on p. 84 but gives no further information. On p. 359 it mentions Alden Johnson as son of Daniel Johnson and Sarah Alden. Yet it never ties these two together, never indicates it is the same Daniel Johnson, suggesting either it wasn't or it couldn't show that it was. The Greeley Genealogy says Mary (Greeley) Johnson died in Campton, NH, which suggests the family of Timothy may have moved out of state, further suggesting it was not this Daniel that lived in Haverhill until he died in 1841. Further research is needed to provide more than vague circumstantial evidence, but what evidence is available suggests it was the son of Elias, not the son of Timothy, that married Sarah Alden. --Jrich 15:31, 18 June 2015 (UTC) you may be correct, with the information given, that there are two Daniel Johnson's. I believe I had a primary source as to justify Daniel-Timothy-Daniel being the line but will dig deeper.--Granitehead 16:13, 19 June 2015 (UTC) |
