N1 is a possible explanation for this situation. Data was taken from two different entries on Ancestry.

Resolved. I was surprised how many Charles Hirst's there were in Huddersfield area in the 1911 census. The probate record was for this one, living with his wife Jane and children Henrietta and Charles at 25 Bay Horse Inn Albert St Lockwood Huddersfield (matching the probate record details).
