Another marriage option [9 January 2013]

I think the more likely marriage option is to Hannah Moody on 29 Oct 1831 in Downton, Wiltshire. The witness to this wedding is Francis Nicholas, probably Charles's younger brother. Charles and Hannah appear in the 1841 census as both age 30 (probably 5yr rounded). In 1851 they give their ages as 42 and 41. The names of their older children match the family names - Sarah (Charles mother), John (Charles older brother), Henry (Charles eldest brother). Charles is an agricultural labourer.

The witness to the marriage of Charles and Elizabeth Moody is Samuel Nicholas. This is likely to be the older brother of Charles born to William and Mary Nicholas and baptised 2 Aug 1807. The names of their children are William (Charles father), Alfred, Mary (Charles younger sister). In 1851 they are living next door to William (age 45) and Sarah Nicholas. This is likely Charles older brother baptised 1805 and his wife. Charles is a carpenter as is his father William and brother William.

There is also a marriage of Charles Nicholas to Ann Fulford on 25 Dec 1833. The 1851 census shows this Charles aged 37. The son Charles of Josiah and Harriot Nicholas baptised in 1813 fits. The presence in the household of Charles sister Elizabeth aged 59 confirms. Sarah Nicholas the witness is likely Charles older sister.--Xq381 22:32, 8 January 2013 (EST)
