This is a confusing line to follow. Much of the data is based on old-time family researchers copying each others' data and passing error forward. There is an excellent article written by Ray Edward Hollenbeck, which he may choose to post here at some point, that details the errors.
I already have made the mistake of creating two Casper Jacobse files and I need to merge them. Thankfully, the WeRelate staff is currently working on programming a merge tool which will come in very handy.
