Carl Johan was born in 1863 to Brita and unknown Father

It was thought that he became a foster child or was adopted.

However, he joined his mother in Stockholm in 1869. This was about the time that she married Frans Nicolas Rosenberg. He is listed in his household in 1873 (probably earlier but this was the earliest listing I could find for Frans Rosenberg) In 1876 he is no longer listed.
