Possible biological parents [9 June 2014]

In the 1920 census, there is a Moon family living in Jackson, Shelby, Missouri (Hugh Moon, wife Clara, and children Emme M, George F, and Betha M - which may be written as Bertha though it's a bit hard to read). The father, Hugh, died in 1928, here is his death certificate. The census was taken on 3 Jan 1920 and she is listed as 1 6/12 years old. That would put her birth date about Jul 1918 (give or take).

George F. possibilities:

I'll do a little more digging and post if I find additional information.--Jennifer (JBS66) 22:20, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

This is very promising, as the death certificate of Hugh shows he died of a disease of the brain and spinal column. Betty was diagnosed with Huntington's disease which would not have been diagnosed in the 20's. Also, the information that I do have in my notes was from a letter from Aunt Emma who was never adopted but went from one foster home to another until she was old enough to marry. The first child listed on that census was "Emme" which very well could have been Emma what I am really hoping to find is a link that would show that this Bertha is in fact betty K. I don't know whether adoption paperwork is even available and short of that we can only speculate that this is the same child.--Kissmenow 00:25, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

Here are a couple more puzzle pieces

1. In this Excel spreadsheet, there is a probate for:
KUNTZ, Clara M
1959 Apr 16
72, ch Henry Lee MOON, Charles F KUNTZ, Bertie M MOON h George F MOON, Emma M Moon RAMSYER, Mary Ellen WILSON

2. Here is Clara's death certificate and Find-A-Grave page

3. It appears Emma married an Aaron Ramsyer 1940 census --Jennifer (JBS66) 00:31, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

I don't have experience with Missouri adoption searches, but did find this about requesting non-identifying information. --Jennifer (JBS66) 00:36, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

this looks like our tie Emma did marry a Ramseyer--Kissmenow 00:42, 9 June 2014 (UTC)

Thank you Jennifer I think I have enough information to be past this brick wall if you find anything else please forward it now I have to figure out how to edit the page to include this new information and to show that she was adopted though the adopted parents don't count as far as geneology I should find a way to include them.

You're welcome! I see that you correctly linked to her biological parents. I'll add some of the information that I found to their pages. As far as connecting to her adoptive parents, that is done using a direct link like this: [[Family:William Marshall and Helen Ford]] or [[Family:William Marshall and Helen Ford|William Marshall and Helen Ford]] . It would go right in the Personal History section. I went ahead and created a Family page for them and added the link to Betty's page (you'll just need to add some birth/death dates to William and Helen's pages). --Jennifer (JBS66) 10:28, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
