RICHARDS, Mr. Arthur R., Jr.
Of Comstock
Died Friday, December 31, 2004, at his home. Arthur was born April 21, 1932, in Kalamazoo, MI
a son of Arthur R. and Martha (Dieterman) Richards, Sr., and had been a life long area resident.
He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve.
Arthur retired from James River Corporation where he had worked as a maintenance supervisor.
He was a member of Masons Fidelity United Lodge #513 and the Chief Engineers Organization of Kalamazoo County.
Arthur also served as the past Constable for the City of Comstock,
was a Reserve Officer with the Kalamazoo Township Police Department,
and was a former appointee of Gov. James Blanchard to the State Elevator Safety Board.
He also volunteered with CASA of Kalamazoo County and was a Licensed Private Investigator with Richards Investigative Services.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Betty Gould.
Surviving are: his wife of 51 years, the former Darleen Lapham;
2 daughters and their husbands, Melinda & John Grix of Clarkston, MI and RaeAnn & Odell Leftwich of Kalamazoo, MI;
7 grandchildren, Jason, Matthew and Amanda Grix and Ben, Calla, Spencer and Dillon Leftwich;
and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held 3:00 Wednesday afternoon at Langeland Family Funeral Homes,
Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street , with the Rev. James Dyke officiating.
Private entombment in Mount Ever-Rest cemetery will follow services.
Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family requests memorials be directed to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
