- RICHARDS, Mr. Arthur R., Jr.
- Of Comstock
- Died Friday, December 31, 2004, at his home. Arthur was born April 21, 1932, in Kalamazoo, MI
- a son of Arthur R. and Martha (Dieterman) Richards, Sr., and had been a life long area resident.
- He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Naval Reserve.
- Arthur retired from James River Corporation where he had worked as a maintenance supervisor.
- He was a member of Masons Fidelity United Lodge #513 and the Chief Engineers Organization of Kalamazoo County.
- Arthur also served as the past Constable for the City of Comstock,
- was a Reserve Officer with the Kalamazoo Township Police Department,
- and was a former appointee of Gov. James Blanchard to the State Elevator Safety Board.
- He also volunteered with CASA of Kalamazoo County and was a Licensed Private Investigator with Richards Investigative Services.
- Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Betty Gould.
- Surviving are: his wife of 51 years, the former Darleen Lapham;
- 2 daughters and their husbands, Melinda & John Grix of Clarkston, MI and RaeAnn & Odell Leftwich of Kalamazoo, MI;
- 7 grandchildren, Jason, Matthew and Amanda Grix and Ben, Calla, Spencer and Dillon Leftwich;
- and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be held 3:00 Wednesday afternoon at Langeland Family Funeral Homes,
- Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street , with the Rev. James Dyke officiating.
- Private entombment in Mount Ever-Rest cemetery will follow services.
- Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
- The family requests memorials be directed to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.
