Who was her Father? [22 July 2015]

Anna Catarina was born to Anna Stina Berg, but her father is unknown. I have seen various dates for her birth ranging from 1802 - 1807. She is not listed in the Hovamantorp birth Records in the years between 1800 and 1808. It is possible that she could have been born in Vislanda or possibly Kråksmåla. The 1810 'moving in' records for Hovmantorp indicate she was 2 years old.

Anna Stina Berg married Petter Aron Pierrou in 1819. Anna was already 12 years old, or older, at that time. She took the name Pierrou as an adopted name.

Pierrou is most likely a Walloon name. Walloons were originally from southern Belgium, and migrated to Sweden in the 1600s to modernize and provide labor for the Swedish Iron Industry.

Since Pierrou is her adopted name, Anna Catherine is probably not a Walloon. Although, it is possible that her unknown father may have been a Walloon. Her grandfather, Peter Berg, was a Hammersmed just like Peter Pierrou. So, it would seem natural that her "Iron Bruk" community would have had several Walloons along side the native Swedes.--PhilGambrel 15:15, 22 July 2015 (UTC)
