Person talk:Anna Ewer (2)

Anna Ewer [9 October 2018]

There is a marriage record and other sources already posted on the family page for Daniel Wing and Anna Ewer here. Lack of a birth record in this time period is hardly uncommon. And there is evidence that Daniel did not marry the widow of Thomas Ewer [1]. And has been hashed out before, although Robert Charles Anderson may be the best genealogist, he did not live then, his work is inherently secondary, and does not in and of itself constitute proof, especially for children whom he doesn't study as completely as his targeted individuals (doesn't follow them through to death, for example), and when he makes negative statements that indicate he doesn't know the answer. Until positive evidence is provided showing one of these participants is misidentified, I think this is by far the most reasonable probability/hypothesis, and I left your comment to register that there is doubt. --Jrich 17:04, 9 October 2018 (UTC)

"Thomas Ewer did not have a daughter named Anna!" You cannot prove this, it is an assumption. It reflects more our lack of knowledge than it reflects the truth. We have no complete list of children, no will naming his heirs. It is true it is an assumption that she is his daughter. The fact is she fits well into the family and he appears to be the only known Ewer early enough to be her father. For example, Thomas is the only Ewer found in GMB. --Jrich 21:02, 9 October 2018 (UTC)
