Ann Lound, the daughter of Henry Lound married Mr. Moody -- probably Samuel Moody -- about 1677/1678. She was Ann Hatcher in 1677, when she probated Henry Hatcher's estate, but she was Ann Moody in a 1678 deed of gift from her father Henry Lound to his Hatcher grandchildren: Henrico Records, Vol. 1678-93, p. 55: 19 August 1678- DEED OF GIFT from HENRY LOUNDS of Parish of Varian, County of Henrico, for goodwill and affection for my grandchildren whose names are underwritten, as follows: Anne Hatcher - Henry Hatcher -Mary Hatcher-William Hatcher-Martha Hatcher- and if they died before age 16 years THEN TO THE HEIRS OF HENRY AND MARY BATTE-. To my daughter Anne Moody, etc. Teste: Henry Batte, John Pigott. Recorded August 20, 1678. William and Mary College quarterly historical magazine, Volume 27, College of William and Mary, 1920, page 192 comments on the above deed stating: "Ann (the daughter of Henry Lound and widow of Henry Hatcher) married 2ndly Moody, prior to August 19, 1678 (the deed, as referred to above, of Henry Lound to his grandchildren on that date mentions Ann Moody, calling her "daughter;" and as Henry Hatcher's wife's baptisimal name was Ann; and Henry Hatcher's children were grandchildren of Henry Lound, the inference is plain." The likely candidate for her husband is Samuel Moody who was the right age and was a neighbor both to the Lounds and to the Hatchers (Tithable list of Henrico County 1679). He was the son of Thomas Moody of Weyanoke Parish in Charles City County, as can be seen from the following patent: Library of Virginia, Virginia Patent Book 7, 1674-1689, volume 1 & 2, pg 656-657.(Reel 7).<http://lvaimage.lib.va.us/LONN/LO-1/007/007_0662.tif> and <http://lvaimage.lib.va.us/LONN/LO-1/007/007_0663.tif > " To All Etc. Ann Lound's first husband was Henry Hatcher Sr. On Sept., 1, 1677, Ann relict of Henry Hatcher, deceased, was granted administration on her deceased husband's estate. (Henrico Records, Vol. 1677-92, p. 33) In August 1678 Ann, Henry, William and Martha Hatcher are named as orphans of Henry Hatcher deceased with Henry Lound, as their guardian.
