Albert's birth year [28 December 2014]

It appears that by 1900, Albert was maintaining a fiction that he was 5 to 10 years younger than he actually was. According to early (1860 to 1880) census records, he was born about 1858, but later records show:

• he was born May 1863 (1900 census, Woodstock, Lenawee, Michigan)
• he was 49 years old when he was married in 1915 (that is, born about 1866)
• he was 52 years old in the 1920 census (that is, born about 1868)
• he was born 12 Jan 1864 (his death certificate)
• he was born 1864 (his gravestone)

Note that it appears fairly certain that the Albert Smith (born about 1858), brother of Alonzo Smith and son of Charles E and Eliza J Smith in the 1860 and 1870 census records, was the same Albert Smith who married Louisa Binns in 1915 and died in 1933. Both the marriage and death certificates of Albert Smith who married Louisa Binns in 1915 and died in 1933 identify his parents as Charles (E) Smith and Eliza (J) Sisson. The Eliza (J) Smith in the 1860 and 1870 censuses was undoubtedly the Eliza Jane Smith, daughter of Philip and Hannah Scisson, who died in 1878 and whose death was registered the same day as the death of her son James Alonzo Smith - the Alonzo in the 1860 and 1870 censuses.--DataAnalyst 20:13, 28 December 2014 (UTC)
