A note by Joy McGinnis clearly refers to this will, and gives the date
"William Cotton witnessed a Will of Abraham Lafevers SR. 10/02/1807"; not clear that this is the date of the will, or the probate date. This is presumably the Abrham LeFever (jr) who used a power of attorney from his father Abraham Lefever Sr living in Augusta County in 1791.

- Levi LESTER's 110 acre tract (part of the above 200 acre Land Grant to Abraham LEFAVER) would have been located in the southeast section of Washington County on the north side of the South Fork of the Holston River east of Kelly's Chapel and probably not too far southwest of McClure Cemetery near the Smyth County line.
- The 200 acre Abraham LEFAVER Land Grant adjoining neighbors were John BOWLES 1785 Land Grant for 237 acres (on the south), Adam MORROW's 1785 Land Grant for 400 acres (on the west), Henry OAKWOOD's later 1789 Land Grant for 400 acres (on the north), and Robert REAUGH who later assigned his tract to Nathaniel McCLURE who then was granted a 400 acre Land Grant in 1787 (on the northeast).

Only son of isaac lafevre (1667). After his father died went to washington county, va. In 1785, we find himon the tax list of washington co, va, as the owner of considerable land. In september, 1785, abraham lafevre and catherine his wife deed land to john jameson of washington co, va. Leaving washington co, abraham moved to augusta co, va, where he died. On july 14, 1789, abraham lafevre sr,then a resident of augusta co,va, gave a power-of-attorney to his son abraham lafevre jr.(1776), his only child, who in 1806 when his residence may have been in whythe co, va, moved from va to wayne co, ky.
- This appears to be based largely on the Washington Co Deed Book entry where Abraham LeFever of Washington County acts under a power of attourny for his father Abraham LeFever of Augusta County. I interpret this information (See above), to show that Abraham LeFever, the father, acquired land in Washington County. Abraham Jr. presumably lived on that property. Abraham Sr., however, either never moved to Washington, or returned to Augusta County at some point, dying there according to this source. Abraham Jr, probably about the time of death of his father, sold the property under a power of attorney, and moved to KY, dying there about 1807. Q 16:34, 11 June 2008 (EDT)

Letter from Bee LaFever:
"They were Huguenots. Abraham was the son of John 1730, who was theson of Abraham 1706, who was the son of Isaac 1669. After the revocationof the Edict of Nantes in 1675, Isaac's mother, father, and six brothersand sisters were martyred. He alone escaped with the family Bible hiddenin a loaf of bread. The Ferre family took him in. He eventually marrieda daughter and they all settled in Lancaster, PA. Two of his father'sbrothers had already settled in Esophus, New Paltz, NY. Andrew nevermarriked; Simon founded that line. There are four other LeFever lines, but none of them as proliffifc as these. The Bible is in the museum inNew Paltz, with Isaac's six children listed in his handwriting. Andrew (in the will) Lived in Wayne County and died in White Co., Tenn. "
- There looks to be some useful underlying history here, whose source needs to be captured. Records of Lancaster Co PA may be useful. Q 16:34, 11 June 2008 (EDT)

Hi Bill,
Thanks for creating the pages for Abraham Lefever. Actually, there is another map of the area that I have produced, which covers the area between the middle and south forks of Holston River. On this map there is another tract of land which clearly was the one owned by Abraham Lefever, Sr. [I]. The 171 acre tract was in the end owned by Abraham Lefever, Jr. [II]since I have a record of the sale which indicates his wife, Catherine (Abraham Sr.'s wife was Elizabeth). But I am not sure who bought the 171 acre tract initially (Sr. or Jr.). This second map is here:
second map
Now there was another Abraham Lefever in Washington Co., VA, which I believe was Abraham Lefever, III. He married Mary Brock in Washington Co. Mary's father was George Brock and her mother Catherine Zink. Catherine's father was Gottlieb Zink. Gottlieb had sons Jacob, Peter and Daniel, who all, along with George Brock lived on the headwaters of Beaver Creek in Washington Co., VA. My theory is that Abraham Lefever, III also lived with the Brocks or a Zink family for a short period (ca 1795 to 1797) before moving on to Tennessee and Kentucky. I have web pages and still another set of maps for the Beaver Creek area, including a map with 67 tracts, my largest map. You can see these starting on this page:
