Did Abigail dau of Henry and Bethia marry Nathaniel Ladd? [10 December 2011]

Perley and Stearns state that Abigail² married a ___ Ladd. Stearns states Nathaniel son of Samuel Ladd and Martha Corliss, married Abigail Bodwell (no additional details). The VR of Haverhill, quotes a Methuen record for the Nathaniel/Abigail marriage in 1748. The Methuen VR (p221) "Ladd, Nathaniel, of Haverhill, and Abigail Bodwell, at Haverhill [June 16, 1748. dup.]." (p323) "LADD, Abigail, w. Nathaniel, [died] Mar. 5, 1771, in her 46th y."

Find A Grave has Memorial# 25322845 for Abigail Bodwell Ladd buried in Coventry CT; Bio: "Daughter of Henry & Berthia (Emery) Bodwell. Wife to Nathaniel Corliss Ladd and mother to seven children: Timothy, Sarah, Nathaniel, Henry, Abigail, Phebe and Samuel Ladd." Inscription: "In memory of Mr^s Abigail Ladd who was Consort to M^r Nathaniel Ladd who Depa^ed this Life August y^e 7^th AD 1778 in y^e 99^th year of her Age."

Americana 31:195 reads in part "Nathaniel Ladd, son of Samuel and Martha (Corliss) Ladd, was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, September 9, 1684, ... He married (second), June 16, 1748, Abigail Bodwell, daughter of Henry and Bethia (Emery) Bodwell, of Methuen, ..." Hoyt (Old Families p229) states for the children of Samuel Ladd and Martha Corliss "v. Nathaniel b. Sep. 9, 1684; m. Abigail Bodwell (Henry); rem. to Norwich and Coventry, Ct."

The Corliss Fam Record (p 20, 21) states "John Ladd (#105) married Oct. 1717, - Mary Merrill of __ b__ d __." Children: "364. Nathaniel, Apr. 5, 1724, d. Mar. 10, 1773. And on Page 52 "Nathaniel Ladd married June 16, 1748 - Abigail Bodwell, of Methuen, Mass., b. __ died Mar 15, 1771, Second Wife, Mary Hervey, of Methuen, Mass., b __ d__ res. Methuen, Mass.

Wight in The Wights (p133) states "... Samuel Ladd of Haverhill, married Martha Corliss and had a son Nathaniel Ladd. This last removed from Haverhill to Norwich, now Franklin, Conn., and then to Coventry. He married Abigail Bodwell of Methuen, Mass., who died August 7, 1778. He died June 11, 1757. Their child Sarah Ladd born Januey 6, 1712, married Jonathan Porter.

The Ladd Gen (p25) reads "Nathaniel Ladd, of Haverhill, (son of John) ma. Abigail Bodwell, June 16, 1748, dau. of Daniel Bodwell, of Methuen, who d. March 5, 1771. He ma. 2d, May 21, 1772, Mary Harvey. He d. March 10, 1773. "
