I first had contact with Zona in 1984. I had written her, at thesuggestion of her brother O s car, regarding our mutal Beauchampheritage. She responded to the questions I had posed to h e r and aftertwo pages she wrote "the only heritage that counts in the long run isthe herita g e we have in Jesus Christ. I knew then that I had found acousin to be proud of.

Zona recounted to me the day of her Grandfather Sebron J Beauchamp'sdeath. She recalled see i ng him "laid out" in a back bedroom of thehome. She wondered why he had been shaven befor e h is burial, when hehad worn a beard for many years. She was the only first person that Iha v e found, that had a first person account of SJ Beauchamp.

Zona worked in Dallas, Tx from 1943 to 1980. From 1948 to 1953 whileworking in the offic e o f a radio preacher, Zona had a portion of thepreachers broadcast in which she protrayed " Aun t Kate" and toldchildren bible stories. In May 1998 in the Southwest Times Record, thenew sp aper in Fort Smith Ar, a story of Zona's was published in anarticle by Linda Seubold. Zon e w as well known for her ability to tellstories through out her life. In my last corresponde nc e with Zona shespent most of the letter talking about the only love of her life, Jesus Chirst. She was ready and wanting to go home. She will bemissed. [GCH 4 Jan 1999]
