    YOUNG WILHOITE.
Death of a Good and Respected Citizen of Shelbyville.
    Special Dispatch to The American.

SHELBYVILLE, Feb. 16 - Mr Young Wilhoite died at his home in this city yesterday after a brief illness. He was one of the old land-marks of Shelbyville, being in his 82d year at the time of his death. He was for many years one of the most prominent merchants of Shelbyville, being associated in business with his two brothers, the late Joseph D. and T.P. Wilhoite. The firm was uniformly successful in its transactions. After his brothers had retired from active business, the deceased continued it until a disastrous fire in 1879 occasioned him severe loss. Since that time he has been engaged in managing his own and his brother's estates. He was a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, and foremost in every good work. He was widely charitable and, retaining his vigor until the end, he gave his personal supervision to his acts of benevolence and saw to it that they were placed where most needed. He goes to his grave followed by the benedictions of a multitude of the poor and needy whom he had befriended. He leaves a large family of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
