    Wray Roush was born May 28, 1905 to parents George William and Galena née Workman Roush at Lake City, Iowa. He grew up and attended school through the sixth grade near Esmond, South Dakota. After receiving his education he began farming in the Manchester-Iroquois area. Wray married Bessie DeVries February 14, 1930 in Huron, South Dakota. To this union, seven children were born; Bonnie, Carol, Billy, Neil, Dean, Judy and Rachel. Together they farmed south of Manchester, South Dakota. Wray continued to farm until the mid-1960’s when he went to work for Kingsbury County. He later retired and couple moved to Madison, South Dakota. Bessie died in 1989 and Wray continued to live in Madison until he moved into the Good Samaritan Center in DeSmet, South Dakota in March of 1995. Survivors include: three sons; Bill (Carol) Roush, Faribault, MN; Neil (Carol) Roush, Nunda, SD; and Dean Roush, Wichita, KS; four daughters, Rachel (Gil) Hodges, Karlinville, IL; Bonnie Roush, Lakeland, FL; Carol Pelky, Calipatria, CA; and Judy (Ervin) Sharp, Springfield, IL; one brother Cecil Roush, Brigham City, UT; 21 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and three grandchildren.
